Hello All!
This shot was taken nearly three weeks ago in Marsden, West Yorkshire, which is a little town set on the Pennine moorland bordering Lancashire.
The bridge is officially called Close Gate Bridge but is known locally as the Eastergate Bridge (I'm sure this must have caused some confusion over the years) and spans the River Colne. Packhorse trains would use this bridge and path to cross the moors when travelling to market towns.
The soil in this area is very rich in iron and clay which gives the water this unusual colour.
This picture is composed of three differently exposed images of the same RAW file in order to add depth and detail rather than white-out snow and also to show the scene as it would look to the eye. A touch of dodge and burn was used to show a little more detail as well as a slight boost in saturation. Some clever cloning was also needed to take out the snow blots that were flying into the lens.
Thanks for looking and any comments and critique are, as always, more than welcome and valued!
Carl

The first thing I thought when I looked at this was, "it must be near an iron works". Thanks for the confirmation :) Super shot. If you ever get bored of the 3 exposure RAW tweak, a Lee Filters 0.9 soft ND grad filter would do the same thing (although you'd be worried about it dropping in the stream & floating away!!)

Timeless. If a troop of medieval soldiers rode by escorting a wagon train it would not surprise me. I really like the blurred cascade.
