Description
Taken in November 2012. I am currently looking for a good point and shoot. I am sick of lugging around the SLR. Missed opportunities with the inconvenience. I'll never stop using it - I just want a good "companion" camera. Its hard to justify spending 400 bucks on an 18-250MM lens, when for less - I can have 24-500MM in a compact that gets great reviews. Very torn right now on what direction I am heading with this hobby. Thank you as always. :)

Great shot !!!

Super shot Fred. Why not look at what they call a 'bridging' camera - something between a compact and a SLR??

Beautiful place, excellent photo.

Very beautiful and atmospheric, with a superb pov...Excellent photo, Fred! Mind you, the price is always justified for a lens, even though you don't get the whole camera for the same price...The difference shows when you start the postworking process of your photo.

Very nicely composed and captured Fred! It's the full control and stability that wins it for the SLR over a compact

I'm just now going from a Canon SX40hs bridge camera (like what Jeff mentioned) to a full DSLR. The SX40hs weighs practically nothing (a little over 20 oz) and the zoom range is 24mm to 840mm. You can shoot everything in manual if you like the control (as Carl says), but it also has auto settings. There are pros and cons of course (for me right now the cons outweigh the pros, which is why I'm moving up) but I'm keeping the bridge, at least for a while, to see if I miss it too much. :P I'd be happy to talk to you more about bridge cameras if you'd like. This is my third one. The path pulls my eye around and my feet follow. I'd love to walk there and see what lies ahead! Beautiful shot.
