Thanks as always! I appreciate the few comments regarding cameras. Not to sound pompous - but I realize that SLR photography cannot be touched. However - there has to be room for both as many opportunities are truly missed with the cumbersome changing of lenses and lugging around of gear. There are many new impressive cameras out there now with improved sensors and manual control. Not the wide aperture control of SLR - but still, many other options. Traveling overseas with a backpack full of gear is something I probably will not do again. My plans are quite simple. Shoot SLR when only SLR can accomplish my goal. Wide angle is one. f1.4 Fixed focal would be another. For most others - its going to be my next "companion" camera. I want to go back to the fun in photography and I am afraid owning an SLR has gotten me a bit too serious about it. Something I promised myself I would never do. Anyway, thanks for reading and again for anyone's input. I am leaning towards the yet to be released Nikon S9500. Red in color. My Canon will always remain on board - but downsizing a bit. Its all good. :)

years ago I was on a race car team here in Texas and I took pictures at all the races besides polishing the car between race heats/cleaning windows. each time I went on vacation I was worried about the film camera and lens instead of enjoying my time off. I sold all my camera equipment and did not have a camera with changeable lens until 2004 or 2005. now I only take 3 lens and have everything in a messenger bag
