Description

So buzz off ... With all the unstable weather we have had recently, (you name it we had it heatwaves/bushfires/storms/rains/floods and tropical cyclones/tornadoes) - it's no wonder that it brings out all sorts of weird creatures to the surface - including the one, we loath most of all: the 'Canetoad' ... I mean they are ugly and poisonous, warts and all! and dangerous to our wildlife, in particular to our cute little green frogs, for example. I found these ones hiding here one night, squashed in between the pool-pump and pool-frame - they just love the wet - or each other, so it seems? playing backpack! BTW I had another version taken with a flashlight, but gave that one a big miss! For some reason this one looked far more spooky, with the third Toad slightly hidden in the dark, I mean really creepy! So it's Happy Valentines Day to all of you, who are NOT into playing leap frog! Lurking with intent!! I do love OUR toads and frogs, but I should hate to these creatures poisoning my dogs/children/whatever. What a SUPERBLY grumpy lot of faces!

It is already difficult to photograph a single toad. And you have a trio .... W O W!! Beautifully they are truly not. Properly beasts. But they have a purpose. They also have a touch of prehistoric animals and are so interesting. Excellent photo. They look anxious.

You made me laugh, dear Brigitte, what a big V-surprise to get here!!! A splendid surprise, but not for in my backpack, I guess I wouldn't walk that easy further then. What a great photo you made out of this. They really are looking as if they know 'we have to hide us', just like a kind of vampires; so evil that look in their eyes.
