Description
I can remember playing cowboys and injuns back when I was a kid... no one got hurt, no blood.. just stick guns and lots of hollering and running. Gunsmoke was on the tv and every week Matt Dillon would shot the same guy in the opening. The bad guy would fall dead in the dirt street, no blood, no gaping hole torn in his chest, just pretend stuff. I don't yearn for the "good ol days" as they weren't any better than today, just different. No, what i feel isn't a loss of anything for myself, rather it's a sense of pity for the kids growing up today where life is cheap and thrills are hard to come by. Kids today are weaned on blood, guts, sex and the real violence going on in front of them daily. We were always a violent species, but there was a time for a short while when we were a gentler race. Now we train our young to be numb to empathy or compassion, to kill with the touch of a button and feel nothing as they see the bad guy fall dead in the street... I pity this world.

Erm... I have two kids, mate, and I'm not raising them like that at all! I know you're making a general comment about the "state of the world" but it doesn't apply to my home.

I agree with you they were different but oh so innocent bill7

yes, of course.. very general. Everything I do is pointed at no individual, just our global presence.

I totally agree 100% with you Seth! Superior image and commentary!

Now the most of games are explosives and to kill the most possible to have point or growing to be on top .... Hummm. I think to much violence and blood you have only a six bullets on and you shut hundred and hundred. Hiiiii no realities in them for sure . Anyway the mentality came so hard and no love in just to kill ((5++))

It is not always easy growing up in this world with violent games and films (cinema and series) are the same. Besides the JT who give a big place. One can say that I spent my adolescence with the development of games more violent, and even though I sometimes play some, I can still make a balance between fiction and reality. Alas, more and more people, there is more research boundaries between reality and fiction. It is hoped that the folly of humans will not cause earth itself to its loss. Excellent render for your feels.

Children are accustomed to seeing scenes of real violence, and wars of the future will resemble video games... crazy world! Awful scene and excellent work!

Очень трогательно. Хотелось бы верить, что это только игра для маленькой девочки. Браво!!!

I am not making a correlation between the video games of today and violence, and not even the movies... I am just trying to say that we have more violence in the world, staring at us daily and far more graphic than any time since the Dark Ages. I don't think playing these games makes us violent, nor does watching violent movies... (I watch all of them) I just think we have been De-sensitized to violence and that by itself makes us a more violent society. And I certainly don't make the claim that all parents leave the child raising to the tv... just a lot of them do. Just by living in this day and age puts us in contact with the cruel and sometimes unjust nature of the world today. I'm not a pacifist by a long shot... just not a natural born killer either.

I agree with you, the children are too accustomed to see violence on TV and video games, I think it's bad for them and the future! Strong image, Seth, superbly done !

I agree Seth, the violence and realism, available to easily view desensitizes us and our children. We don't seem to be as easily shocked or upset as in past times. I too watch the movies and play the games, and so did my children growing up. And I definitely see a difference, in the way I react to a violent/bloody scene, and the way my children react. I don't believe any game, movie or music can turn someone into a killer, that's political BS, IMHO, if that is the case, the news broadcasts should be censored or eliminated. But it certainly does change the way we react to things. Saying that, I don't believe these things ought to be controlled by more government regulations, that's what parents are suppose to do, and most of them do a fine job! stepping off the soap box now :) This is a very moving and well done image. You know you've done something special when it gets a discussion going :)

Insulating children is impossible. You have to do the best you can to instill value for others and hope. It is my considered "blond" opinion that we should go back to fighting wars with clubs and rocks. That way you have to look your opponent in the eye at arms length and WORK to destroy him with the real possibility that you might be the one to die. No generals or politicians in the background. They want something done, go do it themselves! My rant for the day.

Very nicely done.

Very, very beautiful and sweet image friend, the colors and mood are enchanting, congratulations!

I appreciate all the thoughts so far, but I think more than insulation what I am talking about is the fading veil between fantasy and reality... our technology has brought us to the point where war is just another image on a screen, beatings and shootings are broadcast alongside tv shows that depict the very same actions with the consequences muddled with justification for the actions perpetrated by the "bad guys". I don't agree with government dictating what we do at all, I just think we've lost track of something along the way in our psyches. Hell, as for the government, they are playing the biggest fantasy game ever and we sit and allow it as if it is real life. We are a dumbed down version of who we were in some distant past, a past we somehow have lost connection with. It seems almost as if we are a cornered animal seeking escape from some terrible event, but we have nowhere to run to ... Perhaps we know more than our conscience mind will allow us to see clearly?

Incredible imagery man, awesome work I'm a product of those long gone days you speak of, violence was just as real and prevalent then as it is now. The difference is Media coverage, the Internet, instant worldwide coverage of Mayhem from any Neighborhood to the Battlefields of the Worlds Conflicts. I agree the childern of today have become desensitized to the Violence and Corruption of this World because of it, simply from the News to the Gang and War playing games of today that glorify War and Depravity. That's why active Parenting is more important Today than ever before, the Media can not teach Right and Wrong, Morales or most importantly Independent Thinking and how to process all this instant input of images and information that bombards us daily. That's the Parents job and always has been, it just seems there are fewer and fewer capable of being a Parent, it's not an easy job and it never ends. Peace

Seth, while I side with Alex in relation to the commentary in your original posting.. our Children are what we make them to be, so it says as much about us as the current generation as anything. Your reply certainly clarifies matters..and I agree, desensitisation is part of it for sure...but on the local front what we have is a dumbing down of society, because 'we' are largely apathetic and thus the vocal minority get control.. force through the anal legislation because the rest of us are too apathetic to stand up and say it is a crock... the PC people dicate what the rest of us can do because we let them it.. and the consequences of any action are dumbed down too...but I am probably getting off your track onto me own! Like you, I grew up with Cow boys and Indians, cops n robbers too ( though I do hate Robbers!!), and lived to tell the tale,& dare I say it doctors and nurses! the former is now racist, the latter sexualised...it is a shame that such things now could get you in court for being culturally insensitive or a visit from Social services for the latter and your kids confiscated! A poignant render!.. and a thought provoking narrative as alway Seth!, thank you!
