Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Two things I sacrifice for the sake of portability, ah well!

My Father used to rave on about the Messerschmidt, that's why the interest from my side ... looks like it is restored with lots of loving care - practically brand-new, if you ask me - but what would I know? are those several pieces of cloths there, to stop some sort of hydraulic oil leaks ??? seems like a great new camera Bill - so what type and brand is it? This clarity and detail is spot on Bill. One of my biggest faults is that I never use a tripod and wondered whether you are using one here. The story of the pilot had me enthralled.

Airplanes are not particularly my thing, but it is an impressive piece of machinery & I think your new camera caught all the detail very well. And the story was interesting too...

This is a very stunning picture for two reasons: the clarity and sharpness of the image and the beautiful plane

blondeblurr: this engine is partially taken apart during the inspection, the cloths that you see are there to stop any oil or other fluids from dropping on the floor. This shop is so clean you could eat off the floor:-) The camera is a new Canon 5D Mark III. I feel like I've died and gone to heaven, lol. Jayfar: No tripod in use here. One reason is the light in this case is very good. Secondly, with built-in lens stabilization, a full-frame sensor and very high ISO capability the shutter speed can be kept above 1/100 (even in low light) rendering a tripod unnecessary.

Wonderful shot Bill, just amazing detail and clarity! Happy to see you have chosen the 5DMK3, that is what I am going to upgrade to once I finish a bunch of annoying tasks here. Was that taken with the 24-105 lens? The low light capability will prove very valuable. It would have saved the day if I had it some time ago when I shot a dance performance where the lighting was very poorly done.

Oh Hon. Wow. That is just spectacular! The sharpness and clarity is perfect, and I know how much you've wanted this sort of result. Congratulations, babe! :D

Wonderful image Bill and clearly taken with so much detail. I'd love to get this close to a BF 109. Is that a Hurricane hiding in the background? Do you have more shots. Please tell me they let you have a sit in the cockpit too :) A Fav!

Pin sharp detail, a great reference image and a marvelous aircraft quite literally rescued from the sands of time....I'm just putting the finishing touches to a model of another rare bird, which is reportedly under restoration by the FHC....

Excellent shot, Bill! That must be the ultimate camera! I don't even dare think of what it cost. (Shhh...I just didn't say that!) Now that you have such a great camera you'll have to change your avatar into one with you holding the new camera or taking a photo with it! :-)
