Description

"Thunder Snow 6:20A.M. 2013Feb21" . I was awakened at 4:20AZM this morning by the flash of lightning, sound of thunder, and sleet hitting our windows. It continued thundering and snowing until 6:20AM when I took the second image. It is still snowing, and will snow most of the day. The level snowfall so far is about 13 inches. . Notice the sculptured shape of the snow on the bench on the lower image...I think it is unique and beautiful [I know, I'm a flatlander.]. . For South Central Kansas, USA, this is a "grande" snow. Snow shoveling and plowing are in my future today. . Almost everything is shut down or canceled today. In some places there is drifting much deeper than on my picnic table. UPDATE: 5:35:00PM - The snow is now up to 17 inches and still falling lightly. Jim . For those photographers that believe I should have done color correction on the second image, I intentionally did not, in order to show the blue cast morning lighting. The lighting is true to that time of day. . Thanks for viewing my gallery and any comments that you make. . Jim

This really is an amazing capture, that is a lot of snow. The storm has finally reached us as the freezing rain has been going strong for about five hours

We had the same weather phenomenon here two weeks ago. Lightning, thunder and a lot of snow. Two interesting shots.
