Description
As the drums were joined by bells and horns and the music swelled, the monster approached.

Either the two people holding those drums have some serious arm strength (remind me not to get into an arm-wrestling match with either) or the drums are very light-weight. Cool capture in either event

As soon as I saw the photo I thought the same as above. I wish I could hear how it sounded.

I see that some monks have not shaved skull. This has to do with the age or the level of the monk? You can put with music many accents. I look forward to the climax.

They must indeed be strong. So enjoyable to see these photos.

The guy on the right seems like he spotted something not to his liking... Interesting shot. Aloha

Lots of interest in this shot, including the fellow on the left with a crease in his head...that must have hurt! The instruments look very interesting. I don't think the drums are too heavy, and they are resting on a shaft which clearly reaches the ground since they are sitting. His arm does not look particularly strong either.

Firstly, it's good to see that Yul Brynner is alive and well!! :) Secondly, if these guys have anything like the training of the Taiko drummers of Japan then there is no questioning their arm strength! Sorry... can't get past the look on Yul's face! "You WILL keep time!! Miss a beat and I beat YOU!!" "Et cetera, et cetera..." :) This is a great shot!

Excellent capture! I had the opportunity to see the Gyuto Monks in concert several years ago, and your pictures are a lovely reminder!

What a wonder! I'm quite familiar with the Gyoto monks and the Huun Hur Tu (I know I spelled that wrong) throat singer, and now whenever I see musicians from that overall region of the world (but in planetary distances, they're ON the same planet so they can't be that far away from each other, can they?) I love the reds and the warm tones and the various expressions of casual musical focus. It looks as if it takes two to play a drum. One to hold it on its monopod and the other to beat it...sideways. It also looks as if the drums can also be rotated back and forth, with a little drum beater on a bit of string. How cool! This is an amazing photo.

Excellent capture! I love the rich colors and expressions. The musician in the middle seems very relaxed. Perhaps too relaxed for the musician on his left. His expression made me think of a comedy skit with Danny Kaye playing a conductor reacting to some flubs by musician in the orchestra. Here's the whole show. The part I remember is section 0:55. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPlGKJuqFZ8
