Description

A couple of days ago, I posted a photo of a bird perched on a bungee cord. It elicited some comments about what the purpose of the bungee cord was & Denise (MrsRatbag) suggested that I should post the whole bird feeder assembly. So here it is. Nothing extraordinary, but it works well for what it's designed to do. A long, L-shaped piece of rebar is attached to a vertical deck post with brackets that allow it to swing. The two bungee cords provide equal tension so that it stays extended out from the deck when in use & detaching one of the cords allows us to swing it in to add more bird seed easily. The round plastic disk above the bird feeder is designed to spin if a squirrel jumps on it & send him flying down below. I copied the design from my neighbor Russ, who also allowed me to use his rebar bender...

A clever design! The idea of the bungee cords is so simple, and just right!

Interesting idea-if the squirrel were to hurt itself here we would get done by the RSPCA (NUT'S)

That's a manly piece of rebar. Great design and photo! Do I hear a river in the distance? And that is some good looking deck construction.

UVDan: The Applegate River is a couple of miles away, but we do have a small seasonal creek at the far border of the property.
