The Forgotten Pathway (for Clifford) by KatesFriend

Suffice it to say, this is what a family member will get from me if they do not specify what they want for Christmas. Though my brother, Clifford, did receive the high resolution format both printed and framed. Alas, I had to reduce this rendering from an original 1.3 MB to just below the current Renderosity maximum of 512 KB in order to post here. Oh, the blasphemy. Clifford is my elder brother by ten years. Needless to say he already had one foot into adulthood (at least from my perspective) by the time I had only just entered Kindergarten. But in spite of the near generation gap between us we managed to be quite close growing up. How he ever put up with my post-toddler antics and quirks and not managed to kill me is still a puzzlement. Even now we are very different people, which is okay, though our paths do not cross as often as either of us might like. For example, he is a rather successful businessman and I'm a public servant. I could not manage in his world and I doubt he would have the patience for mine. It would make for an interesting study given we are near twins from a physical and I expect genetic stand point. I can't say much about the inspiration of this rendering save a twinge of nostalgia. There is a vague recollection of 70's vintage, drive-in era horror films and how their plots began. Usually the heroine, her car broken down, stumbles across some isolated, old, forgotten house with "a troubled past" which turns out to be infested with malicious forces or a coven of not-so-good-witch witches. Movies like "The Evil", "Picnic At Hanging Rock", "Suspiria" and of coarse numerous segments from reruns of "Night Gallery". All forms of entertainment which scared the bejeebers out of my younger self but were very popular with my brother and his crowd. I suppose having this kind of material in the periphery of my life was his way of doing some payback to my old, bratty self. All great fun, as Sutekh the Destroyer would say. Surprisingly, Clifford never got into "Doctor Who" - SO THERE! - snicker!
Sorry, still no nudity. That often disappointed Clifford too.

Clayton, this is a splendid dedication for your brother Clifford. I'm sure he will be very grateful, and it was nice of you to share it with us. I very much enjoyed reading about you're family, and the differences between you and Clifford.

Well if this is what they get for not specifying, and if I were a family member, I'd never specify! This is wonderful and I know the high resolution format, printed and framed is even better! The detail, depth, and composition are great. I like the way her face and chest are caught in a rare bit of light. It emphasizes the shadowy desolation around her. I like the depth with the trees in the distance and the bright colors. The stressed pillars, rusty fallen lamp, and grass encroached pathway (the grass and weeds seem to be reaching out for her) all speak of neglect and of not exactly being the optimum place to seek help (and conversely the most likely place that a heroine of 1970's horror films would seek help.) In today's world of cell phones, the first thing a writer would have to do is explain why said heroine's cell phone didn't work. It could be a dead zone, or after frantically calling her boyfriend (with a cutaway to him doing something silly so that he doesn't hear) she would decide that the best thing to do is try out that totally unappealing option of darkness and decay. Wonderful atmosphere and great gift and dedication!

Very atmospheric and indeed reminiscent of those 70's era films. The pathway could lead to all sorts of possibilities. Most excellent work!
