Description

This is Rosie and she is a Roseate Spoonbill. You can see that she has a band on her ankle. She is in an animal rescue center and they think that she was hit by a car/truck. They grow 28 to 34 inches (71 to 86 cm) long, with a 47 to 52 inches (120 to 133 cm) wingspan and a body mass of 2.6 to 4.0 pounds (1.2 to 1.8 kg). She has a spoon shaped grey bill and thus the name. There are only very minor differences between male and female. The pink color is from their diet of tiny crustaceans and her bald head is green. Some info from Wikipedia. Photo from my old Minolta.
