Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Looks to be a lot warmer there, than it is here, which makes this incredibly inviting! Hi M'lady, been a while!! Happy Birthday Mark!! Hope you had a most excellent one.

Thank you so much, Marilyn, for the so-typically-marilyn shot of an untamed, beautiful ocean splash, the primal shore and rocks, and all that light shooting through it. I know we've both compared our bodies of water, and it always flatters me since 'my lake' is an extremely small version of the Pacific ("this dome, this half-globe, this bulging eyeball of water"---Robinson Jeffers). But we both have this unexplainable call to that water and to its huge dramas and pre-time feeling; and each time you post your images of it, it radiates with 'you' and with your love for it. I agree that the blaze of mist and light are wonderful, and that the sky and sea blend together beautifully, with a patch of blue giving promise...Thank you for posting this for my birthday, a piece of my own life, and of course a piece of your inner life as well: I know how much that ocean is your sibling, who never leaves you no matter where you go. Thank you for this and your beautiful wish for my birthday, friend.

Ursula K. LeGuin lives out thataway...I recognize the mood of this beach. Her stories sometimes feature beaches with a distinct Pacific Northwest (as far south as Northern California) vibe and this has that vibe, only without cryptic dragons saying cryptic things in the Old Language. Aside from that, I love this stretch of beach, though I have yet to visit there in person! I plan to. I really like the contemplative mood this has, the near monochrome is so perfect and it's a wonderful birthday dedication!
