Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

The trees and the sky pull my eye away from the flowers and makes me wonder how it would look with a full depth of view, so I downloaded it into Photoshop and cropped it and selected the flowers that are in focus and ran the noise filter on the rest several times. Try it and see how you like it. Getting the right shot with flowers is a lot harder than landscape photography I think. Took some shots of fields of sunflowers last summer. Maybe have 1 good one! Great thought provoking work. Keep them coming!

(a new computer, forgive the double ebots) Thank you so much Andrea, for celebrating my birthday with this very calming sea of flowers. The foreground flower seems to be speaking for all the others, like their representative or friend; and the rest is just this beautiful background sea, with just a bit of sky on top as if the real light were in the flowers themselves. It's uncanny, because I've had (for the first time in my life) exhausted adrenals with a weakened heart and (joy) sky-high blood pressure peaks; I've never had this before, and it's left me crawling some days. This image is where I'd like to be, ie in a peaceful sea of sun-gold colors, as intimated by Ana. I know you didn't know this was what I dreamt of, but your intuitions must've been well at work. Beautiful and calming, thank you so much Andrea. It's a pleasure to be back in your gallery again...
