Description
Bhutan is an incredibly green place. The government and the people are very environmentally conscious, which makes sense when you depend upon the land for your survival. On our last day in Jakar I captured an image of this mountain flower. One day I would like to go back and explore the flora and fauna of this country.
I would like to thank all those who visited and especially those who left such generous comments. It is greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking this trip with me. I hope you enjoyed the ride.

it looks like a cross between a Mum and a dahlia(sp?) I don't blame you for wanting to go back! I want to join you on that trip!

Gosh! A dahlia! I suppose they have to grow wild somewhere . Thankyou so much for sharing your adventure, Mark, you widen my horizons in such a personal and engaging way.

A fitting end to a nice ride!

Did you happen to pass a young Bruce Wayne out looking for a certain mountain flower...??? Sorry, I know that was a bit random, but it's how my mind works sometimes.

You know, this could really be one of those rich textile colours, as shown, prior to this pic - so if it's natural dye they use, maybe they got some inspiration from these Dahlias? well - anything is possible! that was a cool ride, Mark - thanks, BB

I enjoy trips, especially to Bhutan, though I can only go there in your gallery. Renderosity is such a magical place with so many places to visit in it, and Bhutan is just one of them. I'd love to see that country (and the people) for myself. I've been thinking of traveling, and I've come to realize that one of the things I miss most is the smell of travel. There's a particular joy in going somewhere and smelling everything there, but not in that casual sucked-up-the-nose way, but in a way that's deeper and far more emotionally-resonant. I looked at this image and immediately got a whiff of all of the non-flower scents associated with...well...what I assume to be Bhutan. Mountains have a particular sort of smell, too...though I can't just walk up to a mountain, blindfolded and say: "Oh, this is Mount Fuji" or "This is Mount Kilimanjaro" or something like that. I suspect that on some level, mountains must be distinct from one another, olfactorally, but I'll stick with what I know which is smelling books. But anyway, after so long a ramble about other stuff I should say something about this photo. It's quite obvious that this is a beautiful shot, but what strikes me most about it is the mood of the piece. I love the balance between the full bloom and the wilted petals. I'm more drawn to the wilt, because even wilted, those particular petals still retain their color and their vibrancy. This is really well-seen and captured. I like it immensely.

Dahlias are a wonderful flower. You are no flowers for the vase. Only in nature they live long and enjoy their environment. A great pink draws attention to she!
