Springtime First day of spring And the weather Is a liar It's still cold enough to snow The season is Peeking around the corner Wondering if it's Safe to come out yet Forsythia pops out Crocus of course But everything else Hibernates First day of sun And the neighborhood Starts chatting Dogs bark Kids yell Someone down the street Mows the lawn The first 50-degree day And shorts appear Bicycles Motorized scooters Top down Happy Crazy for sunshine Flowering cherry Plum Bleeding heart Daffodils It will be another six weeks Before we see Lilac Rhododendron By the time Everything's in bloom The air is rain-washed gentle And it looks like spring The calendar will click over Into summer And the weather Will be a liar Once again ................. Cover art done in ArtRage and CS5 Font is Florentine Script .................. The Writer's Gallery topic of the month is Springtime. Exceptional prose. I love the first three lines! Payback is a bitch. Mother Nature does not like being abused and we've certainly done our share. We should be grateful she doesn't make it snow forever. I guess I'll have to look into Art Rage. You do such wonderful things with it.

WOW! Poetry is such a marvel, especially since it's deceptive. Like the calendar, poetry is a liar...it says "I'm easy to write because I'm short" and it turns around and demands as much work as a 400 page novel. Ah, but your poem reads so wonderfully; it flows, it catches flashes of brilliance and wraps them in the gentle sway of clouds and damp weather and the greenery of growth. This rocks!
