(boy, those last 2 comments were half an hour a piece! Lol---I'll have to do this in more than one session. I want to get a good representation while I'm back. And I hope to be back again sooner than the last time, too...) I'll end the cat in a hat series with this piece, because of its beautiful posing, the beautiful lines of the cat and hat (making a swirling line from hat to cat's legs---beautifully articulated), the color coordinations, and the light and misty background. This is one of the most posed of this series, as if the cat had had theatrical or modeling experience; she's posed as if she were looking away and you came in and she looked at you with total ease. Her head---turned to you, having been looking in the opposite direction---is in no way bothered to have you there: She's at total ease. Then, you've harmonized the hat with her, perfectly: It swoops down to meet the line of her body, and swoops up (at left) to carry it into space. More of that panache and design sense...(These are well designed...I mean as design itself, they're really well designed.) And the soft violet tones of her coat are brought to a climax in the strong violets of the hat. The bouquet itself is beautiful, this one with lots of smaller flowers; and the eggs have a light in the center which you have in various of your flowers, leaves, etc. Light of that sort is inward and spiritual, as it seems to glow from within. As for the bird, lol---when I first saw it, I thought it was wearing sunglasses---sorry! Then I saw that it eyebrows. And so you have a little miniature creature-in-a-hat, right atop the larger one. And the background is this misty thing, with trees and blossoms quietly peeking through the mists. And there's an actual halo of light behind and around the cat. It's painted subtly, so it blends with the piece (rather than blasts out). The blend of everything here is amazing: and the harmony of violet hues (from lighter to dark) is very subtly painted. The piece feels like the cat was interrupted in a heaven somewhere---fitting for easter. And the clarity of the bouquet (a brilliant clarity) is in balance with the mists and softness of the rest of the painting. Beautifully done; this has been a tremendous series, which I'm afraid I have to leave now so I can do some others. I'll do one more painting now, and then come back later...
