Description

American Export Airlines passenger flying boat "Excambian" in militarized livery, as she might have appeared on approach to the Irish coast in late 1942. Think of "Excambian" as a Concord with beds. The luxurious VS-44 was flying boat pioneer Igor Sikorsky's belated answer to the dominant pre-war Martin and Boeing "Clippers." However, the three VS-44s entered service during the Second World War and immediately joined the trans-Atlantic express service that carried important defenders of freedom and valuable light cargo across the Atlantic. My sources don't record Whether Captain America found a use for the "honeymoon suite" but I'm sure we can leave that to the imagination of Action-adventure screen writers... "This is your captain speaking... we are experiencing unexplained turbulence..." Excambian (aka "Mother Goose") still exists, albeit in a museum. Which alas is more than can be said for any of the Martin and Boeing Clippers. Rendered in Vue 11 Esprit The VS-44 comes from Cornucopia 3D. I've changed the texture. Thanks for viewing and comments.

Impressive plane and really nice job on the texturing, Brian. I like the idea of a flying boat...adventurous to say the least. If I had the bucks, I'd have one!

A Honeymoon suite !, how refined...I'll bet you even got a framed membership for the 'Mile High Club'...When the Wife and I went on honeymoon we had to make do with the cramped confines of the toilet cubicle and a stern telling off from the stewardess....... progress eh!! :-) Great render mate and nice to know there's still one about.....
