Description

even the most peaceful of explorers should know how to defend themselves (and others), Shallah being no exception. While studying astrophysics in Tokyo, Shallah availed herself to taking martial arts. So many of her classmates were into Karate, Judo, Kempo, and Kung Fu, but Shallah wanted something that was more to her personality. She did her research, and settled on Aikido. She took classes first with the Hombu but then went out into the land and took classes at the Shrine at Iwama, Ibaraki Prefecture. She spent ten years in disciplined practice, understanding the ways of Ki... when she finished her Doctorate, she was ready to make her way in the universe, she was also ready to continue the synthesis of mind and body... her time at the shrine had taught her many things... but most of all, an understanding of the universe.... a couple of lifetimes ago, I studied Aikido, never un-studied it.. some of my contemporaries wanted more to study Ki, so that they could control the universal energies, throw people with their minds, that sort of thing.... I deviated and studied more on how the body moved, functioned. succeeded, failed. Not that throwing someone with your mind isn't a cool thing (it's a Jedi thang), but sometimes a slight movement, a meager twist of the hip or hand will do nicely.... some of those who went into Ki studies, went far, some didn't... I walked a different path and that made all the difference in the world. and for the purists out there, Shallah isn't in the standard defensive stance... she too took her own path... peace, love, and bubblegum
