Description

A shot of an elevator car approaching the bottom side of the anchoring mass in geosynchronus orbit, some 20,000 plus miles elevation above the earths surface. The elevator structure penetrates the anchoring mass, with the debarkation terminal on the space-side portion of the asteroid; here passengers can transfer to space craft bound for all points outward from the earth...........The elevator cars' dimensions are 200 feet in diameter, virtual cruise ship size vehicles.

Took me a minute but i see how the mesh was made.. it almost looked like individual wires.. but its a torus... you almost got me too say damn!... but this is an awesom pic.. from the perespective it looks phenominal in size and i still can't get over the space elevator idea.. our scientists are paid way to much to think up stupid un imaginable and or un practical contraptions like this.

Actually I think the idea of the space elevator was proposed by science fiction writers, most notably Art Clark, the father of the concept of geosynchronus orbit communication sattelites, an idea first proposed in the 40's, which was also greeted with derision and catcalls of 'fantasy', 'impractical', and 'useless' by critics and pundits of the time..........of course, we all know how that turned out.......

Excellent render! A stunning composition with awesome modeling and lighting! Actually, both the radio and telephone were called useless at one point... :)

Yep! you fill the frame with interest and bold design. I read that book by Clark years ago, it was a tantalising concept. The whole point about any software that we work with, is how well we use it! The fact that you have conjured something convincing in scale and ambiance from a torus proves your skill. Classy work!.

There's always one idiot in every village! Great work! The force of nature is too strong to be overlooked. The road is allready there, we just need to travel on it. Thanks for the thought provoking and beautiful picture.
