Description

PP 2012, Photoshop, Fireworks --- Hello and welcome. Thanks so much for taking the time to view my work. I know it's been some time. I've been doing some web development work, as well as a whole lot of stuff I haven't published yet. Much more will be coming soon. I have about 15 images to postwork and finish off, a freebie and product to publish, and several outfits to make into new products. I made this portrait to test a few of my creations in a close up. The first is my photo studio, which I keep messing with. I promise I _will_ package it up. I also wanted to see how my skin and eye shaders worked in a facial portrait. I'm very happy with how they performed. Last but not least was my hair material, which I wanted to test not only close up but as light blonde as possible. That's been the most interesting to use, because I get very different results from hair made of lots of tiny strips (like here) than I do with more solid hair. Both work, but I need to adjust the settings to fit the model. I've been playing with strand hair in Blender, and I find sort of the same thing. When you have a volumetric mesh made up of tiny pieces, the material has to work additively rather than as one whole. This version has been touched up in Photoshop. If you'd like to see the original, just let me know and I'll post it. This portrait comes with my usual disclaimer about the morph: it's just my own dialed character, not what comes with Milan. Please check out Milan at Rendo if you like the skin. I know the title probably seems random. When I was young I had a Sasha doll with light brown skin, blue eyes, and hair such a light blonde it was almost white. When I made this portrait it reminded me of her, even though the character's skin isn't nearly as brown. The specularity on this looks particularily good--it's got a little texture to it right where it is needed. Plus Sasha is lovely :) I remember wanting the doll very much as a kid, because of the pale hair and tan skin, and she looked friendly!

She is beautiful! My only suggestion is to darken the eyebrows slightly. Even a natural pale blond has a darker shade of eyebrow than the palest blond hair. We have several in our family.

Your PhotoStudio is quite the feat, indeed. The lighting is quite even and brings out colours and textures beautifully. Kudos on developing a tool that helps control lighting and environment so well. The skin: nice shader, good texture! Well done. But definitely the crowning glory is the hair material. Is this one that you've already used in the past? For solid mesh hair, it's about as good as it can get (I've been playing with hair in Cycles-Blender, and this rivals that).
