UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Oooh! Before I go any further, I'll have to say that the title reminded me of the movie of the same name. THIS photo is a whole lot better. The movie ("based on" the Travis Walton UFO abduction account) didn't suck, and it showed that grumpy advanced extraterrestrials going around abducting people could really do with picking up some housekeeping skills...but anyway...that's neither here nor there. I like this Fire in the Sky better than I like that "FIre in the Sky". This has wonderful intensity, drama, color, and it's kinda like watching a really slow ballet (well, clouds don't move that slowly, but photographed clouds, captured mid-drift have that weird quality of implying drift, while the image is itself, static. And now that I've gone off on one of my UFO rambles, pull it back in and just shut up and full zoom on this photo again.

Another beautiful shot, Bill. I love desert sunsets. Be sure to go to Antelope Canyon while you're in Page. Take the photographers' tour with Chief Tsosie Tours. http://2dphotography.smugmug.com/Travel/Antelope-Canyon-2009/10732462_XftSZb#!i=643774602&k=fRtXJwQ

This is really spectacular Bill. It reminds me one particular sunset I witnessed in Namibia! Marvelous.

Excellent capture Bill! Glad to see you getting a low light photo with the camera. Be nice not have to process each one. Looks like you could have shot a slower shutter speed and ISO. I am curious to hear if you can get a sky like this with little or no noise in the RAW file. Saw a great comparison with the Mark 3 and the Nikon 800E. Rumor has it Canon will come out with a 40 mp sensor soon for the next generation Mark 3!

What is there not to like about this dramatic scene - I am not surprised - both of you wanting to extend the stay there! it would make an interesting BG for a myriad of movies or for the Opera by Richard Wagner's: 'Lohengrin" ... marvellous Bill, BB
