Description
Two twin engine Mig-19 Farmer jet fighters on early morning patrol. The Mig-19 was the first operational supersonic jet in the world beating out the western North American YF-100 by almost a year.
Making a number of intercepts of Western aircraft during the cold war in East Germany, the Mig-19 made the first documented contact with an American U-2 spy plane, although it fell short about 2200 feet of the U-2's superior altitude. The "Farmer" (it's western reporting name) is also credited with two very controversial incidents. One in which an RB47 was shot down in international airspace over the Arctic, and the other, a t-39 Saberliner was shot after "straying" into East German airspace.
I was interested in trying out some terrain/texture/bump combinations and also it was a good excuse to make use of Pedro Caparros' very fine Mig. It's always a challenge to do jet renders...everything happens so fast that the drama is hard to find.
