Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wife’s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update  January 2012: After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with its advancement – I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems. I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books.  Life marches on!  ÂÂ

WOW! Grackles! Oooh! Grackles! Boat Tailed Grackles! There's a reason for my enthusiasm, other than the fact that I really like grackles! I've been artistically obsessed with them for the past week or so, and now I see a grackle montage (a grackle-tage?) Funny how that works. These are great. Such handsome birds!

Excellent collage Dana! I have only seen these in Texas but they appear to act much like our magpies.

So well worth the zoom indeed! I think I should love these birds, which so much resemble the corvids like our jackdaw.

What I really like about these birds is the velvety, midnight-blue colour of their feathers and now, I am wishing that could also hear their 'song' ... They are unknown to us here, where I live, - ah, well live and learn, thank you for sharing it Dana, BB

I love grackles! They are so gutsy. They look at you with a "yeah, what do YOU want?" I have been particularly delighted with them lately. There are several couples with nests in the two Crepe Myrtles outside my office. None of my protestations of good will towards their offspring will appease them. Whenever I go out of my office they dive bomb me. They wait until my back is to them and come swooping out of the sky, brushing my hair as they go. If I turn around and catch them, mid-swoop, they swerve off, and wait from my back to turn again. They perch up on the walls, wires, and trees and scold me. Their antics make me want to hang around and watch them which is not their intent. Luckily they haven't figured out that pooping on me would work a lot better. These are lovely captures! Wonderful detail and colors. Seeing the two with their mouths open, I can hear the shrieks and clatters.
