OK, yes, the title is a little takeoff on a Clint Eastwood film:)
And 750 foot tall sand dunes in the middle of the USA is a tad bit unusual!
We are now visiting Great Sand Dunes National Park near Alamosa, Colorado.
This image was taken this morning about 20 minutes before sunup...first rays sneaking over the mountains to the east...

Beautiful! I like the way the dune shapes echo the mountains (or perhaps the other way around.) Seems a likely place for all the dust and sand of the basin to accumulate. What a fabulous place!
