Description

Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve, outside Alamosa, Colorado. The tallest dune is somewhere around 750 feet, and it isn't in this picture. This is an amazing landscape. We're sitting somewhere around 8,000 feet above sea level on the edge of a huge plain surrounded by mountain peaks. Over in the northeast-ish corner of this big flat bowl lies a 30-mile-square dune field. For more information: Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve

A phenomenal image, I do like the composition, especially the scale you are showing us here, with the two ant-like humans taking a 'stroll' - can't be as easy, as it looks ;)) I wonder if you could do that barefoot? I love the feel of sand between my feet and toes, I am so used to it ... and anyway you are visiting the Dunes, at the right time of the year, IMO and after perusing the extra info, you gave us with the climate data ... and the hint of lavender is superb! KUDOS Tara, I love this big wide open space of 'emptiness' ... called Sand! BB

Absolutely stunnng! Including the figures was a stroke of brilliance - it would be impossible to wrap one's head around the size of these dunes without them. I'm assuming you didn't see any of those gigantic worms while you were there... Amazing capture, Tara!

Words fail me! If I had taken this, I would be walking on water for at least a week. This must be one of the best photos I´ve seen on here in years. I will pop it into my "Fav´s" as a reminder to myself, what world class photography is all about.
