Description
Got the Reality 3 plug-in thing for Poser. Now I can use the free Lux renderer. Honestly, I like the look for the Firefly render in Poser just fine, but I'm bored and wanted to try something new. I pushed my skills as far as they can go without professional training and I've got in a slump. Maybe spending some time trying to make photorealistic renders will be the new direction I go in.
Looks like it'll take a long time of fiddling with. To get the lights correct, anyway. Not nearly as easy as Poser's lights. But I've only been playing with it for an hour. So far, so good. This was just a test scene. I let it run for 45 minutes and then cut it off. This is the result. Not too shabby.
All in all I think I'm going to get some use out of it. Looks like fun. it does a great job on realistic water. Did a test on that. And the guy who made this did a great job making it user friendly. It's not difficult to use at all. Just run it inside Poser and a new window pops up and everything you need is right there. A lot of add-ons or scripts seems to be minimal in that department. This one looks like it was done by a professional team - nice interface.
Sadly, my monitor crapped out so I'm using the old tiny backup monitor until the next paycheck. Not a whole lot of rendering lately because of that.
This scene basically went like this: loaded the scene, added one Reality light up above, and hit render. That's pretty much all there was to it. A lot of folks are griping about the long render time, but Lux is a heavy duty renderer and that's just the way it goes. Doesn't bother me because I spent so many years taking an hour and a half just to render a simple scene on my old machine.
