Description
Here you see the Keep tower which is all that is left standing on this site which dates back to the 6th century but most of the castle was built by Llywellyn Fawr who died in 1240.
The castle is situated on the outskirts of Llanberis, North Wales.

An excellent capture and zoom Jeff and it amazes me that it is still standing.

Beautiful place and capture! Wonderful composition, framing, and detail. The mountains in the distance, are soft but have a barren appearance which matches the stark outlines of the ruin. The branches are like a veil. Everything in this image works so well to make me think of a harsher age, softened by the passage of time. It's easy to see how the past can be romanticized looking at a beautiful and richly atmospheric image like this. I love the colors, and contours of the land around the tower.
