Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Tonnes of red in various shades dominate this exotic scene between the Honeybee and the Senorita, Andrea! Well done. Ole (pronounced Olay)!

A wonderful slice of garden life!

Don't let her near you Senorita! As soon as she gets what she wants she'll be gone. One day someone will find a whole collection of preserved insects in your home that you have used in your images. That's the only way to explain a picture this perfect. Stunning work, top marks.

First off, your title reminds me of something I'd expect on the cover of a book by one of those brilliant South American Authors writing in a genre that isn't so big in the USA, and only slightly known on the European subcontinent and its satellites. I don't think there is such a book with that title. Yet. Now, as for the photo! I figure if a flower is bred for looks, it's a bit like giving a poodle one of those annoying French haircuts full of pom-poms and curly impracticality, especially since poodles were originally Russian hunting dogs! Oh, the indignity! The same goes for flowers! I mean, if a flower isn't accessible to insects it's almost like a very pretty chastity belt on top of a stem. Poor thing! As for this brilliant, lusty Senorita: well, this is just perfect. Brilliant. Wonderful. Amazing. And quite eye-catching. That bee is quite perfect and the overall composition, showing off the flower bits is simply stunning. I do agree with Tara about the bee/pollen match. How perfect!
