Description
Before you meet these two, I wanted to give you a bit of background on them. Their names are Maeryth (p. 'mIHr-ith') and Maeryn (p. 'mIHr-in'), the children of Taron Bra'Naeriss and Amalia Na'Gaethin. Taron was the Faeraen Ambassador to Naell Bra'Dantor, the Lord of Faeara (p. 'FIH-ahr-ah'), and as such travelled widely and often across Turan. He would sometimes take his son Maeryn with him. He wanted to be certain the Lords and Ladys of Turan knew him, and that Maeryn knew how to act in court and as a diplomat. Taron had high-hopes of Maeryn following in his footsteps, in spite of the fact that the boy was clearly magus material. He had evinced an innate proclivity and precocity for all things magic at a very young age. The only other things that fascinated him as much were mathematics and science. Maeryn was a genius.
Maeryth only travelled when the whole family went somewhere on holiday. She spent much of her time learning the complexities of her mother's business. Amalia owned a large shipping and mercantile enterprise that she'd inherited from her father. Maeryth eventually attended the Faeraen School of Political and Business Sciences, where she earned her degree in Port Management. She eventually became the Port Official at Pyra-Blas the Faearaen capitol, and that is how she came to know Shea Dunbar.
When it came time for Taron's eldest child to go to the university, it was not to the Faeraen School of Political and Business Sciences that Maeryn accepted one of several invitations. It was off to the College of Sciences. He graduated in three years, rather than four and went on to be invited to study with Arch-Magus Buraen. Buraen greatly admired the young man's skills and ability to learn spells even he had trouble mastering at lightning speed. Maeryn was like a sponge, soaking up every fragment of knowledge he could get his hands on. He was a superlative enchanter and alchemist, inventing new potions and enchantments all the time. Maeryn's greatest mastery however was fire and all its attendant resources. There were none who could outmatch him - not even Buraen himself. When Buraen passed on at the ripe old age of one hundred and eighty-two years, Maeryn became his successor - the youngest mage to ever become Arch-Magus. He was twenty and seven years old - still just a 'babe' by Turanian standards.
Unlike the leaders of other worlds in the Galactic Federation, the Lords of Turan preferred that everyone got along. They were a world community, rather than an agglomeration of lands always at each other's throats. It was to everyone's benefit, for each land had it's own resources that were in high-demand from the others. Trading, manufacturing, and merchantile kept the coin flowing for everyone. Turan had a very stable economy and environmental policy. Goods and consumables were produced with as little impact as possible by methods that ensured clean production and proper re-cycling. There was no withholding of new technologies that made life better. Everyone had a place to live, clothing to wear and food to eat. Having more than two children was frowned upon, for to do otherwise was to risk over-population and the balance of resource renewals. Schools were free and education encouraged. Because of all these things, the Turanian galactic immigration policies were very strict. One had to be sponsored and vouched for by a Turanian citizen of good standing. One also had to have a skill or ability that made them an asset to Turan and not a burden.
In the first years when Dunmar began making noise about making war on Rindar, the Consortium of Turanian Lords undertook a mission to try and make peace with this upstart who'd come into his position by (it was rumored) nefarious means. The mission was to be led by Taron as the chief diplomat. They ventured into Faladar with high hopes of making short work of this and getting Dunmar to see the point of being amicable toward his neighbors. However, Dunmar's forces made short work of the mission, slaying all of them - including Taron. Dunmar beheaded Taron and sent his head to the Consortium with a message declaring that 'this' was his answer to them. The Consortium saw Dunmar and his growing army of ghouls and dark mages as a blight and a cancer on a world they'd worked hard for generations to make a utopian society where everyone could flourish in their own way. However, he was clearly too powerful for them to know what to do about him. Until now, he'd been more bluster and threat than anything. Now, things were becoming very serious.
After a prolonged period of mourning and depression, Amalia sold her business and retired to their manor, where she kept in frequent contact with her husband's friends in high places. She sometimes travelled to the Consortium and spoke with them at length on matters of state and trade. They valued her knowledge of these things and implimented a few international trading agreements based on her advice. After several years though, Amalia's health and mental state began to fail, for she could not forget her beloved Taron and longed to be with him again. She felt as if half of her was gone...empty, and life bereft of meaning. They'd been together for nearly seventy years when he was killed. Amalia died eventually, refusing all attempts to heal her or take food. She left her considerable estate to her children to be divided equally between them. Maeryn however, took only a small portion and left the rest for his sister with the stipulation that he would take his share at a later time. Even then, Maeryn did not plan on remaining at the Mages Sanctuary the rest of his life. He had other things he was working toward...other things that occupied his thoughts and plans that were more important than any glories or positions he might achieve. In spite of his deeply hermetic nature and his love of deadly and dangerous magics, Maeryn was a well-balanced altruistic soul who wanted to see their world flourish and remain the place everyone had worked so long and so hard to make it. Thoughts of avenging his father's terrible and untimely death and having to watch his mother waste away from heartbreak at her loss were secondary to all that, but never doubt they played some part in his aspirations.

So, you see Dunmar has po'd quite a few rather powerful people both politically and otherwise with his previous actions - not just Alba and her family. Alba, however, is unaware of what transpired with the diplomatic mission and Taron. She was in deep training and secluded from the outside world to become the High Priestess of Lian Na'Marn when this all happened. No one is particularly fond of seeing Dunmar draw another breath.
Maeryn and Maeryth are fairly typlical Faeari with their hair and eye colors. They're both of paler complexion than most of their countrymen, because they both spend a lot of time indoors. Faeari tend to have olive to golden skin. Faeara lies to the south on Turan, with a tropical to sub-tropical climate, except in the very south where it's more temperate.
Maeryth is SRG_Cherise (YURDigital) - she does not come with black sclera or gold eyes.
Maeryn is SRG_Seth (not yet available)
Her outfit is from 'Moroccan Dreams' with HMG Amal textures (DAZ)
His outfit is from 'The Mage' (DAZ) retextured by me with various Parrotdolphin materials.
Both hair products are retextured by me.
See below for other products.
Thanks so much for dropping by dear friends. Have a fantastic Friday!

Now, you can sell your story to George Lukas and write for him a new sf serie! I admire your fantasy and the art that goes along with it. This is beautiful to see how Mearyn and Mearyth look like. Excellent portraits. Gr.Rudy.

You have such an incredible way with your stories, Ray! Much like Tolkien, your characters have a long history to build upon, and it really makes your story come to life. And then there's your art – and the two are an unbeatable combination!

Great looking characters and I really like this backstory. Nice bit of information and clarifies what's going on in that world. As always with hindsight, the world should have united against him and taken care of the matter. I hope I wont be saying that about Kim Jong Un or Assad. Great work.
