Description

I've wanted to do a mermaid under water for a long time. Well here it is. Verdict is still out on this one so honest critiques are needed. Having no clue how to do an underwater scene, I simply turned Flink's water on its side and moved it in front of her then spent a lot of time working on lights. The question is: Does it work? Lost Realms and the Leviathan are from DAZ Freebies: Elita - Silver (got her on the promotional download day) Neraida Hair - Maria Lion fish - Poser IraKanji-Prorto - Poisen

It works! A mighty fine image for your first underwater art. There are some freebies out there somewhere that have the lights and effects present that give some interesting results too, if you do a search. But this one looks great as well! Bravo! Most excellent!

Hi Teri, Those render are more than hard to set. I think you could have a look on how to use caustics (as texture) and a sun (as light) that will render effects like you can see on the plant on the right, there : http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=2378737&user_id=671256&page=3&member&np Plus, you may have to put some atmosphere to give better effect to your light(s) that takes a while to render. About the "stripes" on your render, I suppose that there is a light(spot or else) hidden behind a 3D object or environment and wich couldn't light the scene as well... After that you can use some "bubbles" brushes, ray of light brushes as postwork... Beyond this, it's an amazing character ! Cheers.

Looks like she is having a great time with her friends. The viewer definitely gets the sense of the characters being immersed in a volume of water. The murky light adds to the effect.

I think you did a great job simulating the underwater look. :) It looks great! I think that hair is perfect for a mermaid too.
