Description
AWAKENING … silence
I stirred from winter’s little death of sleep
To see my lawn and trees adorned with gowns
Of springtime’s emerald green. A moment that
Will last through all my calendar of days
Because of whispered words I found to share
With sycamores and weeping willow leaves.
“How wonderful it is … WE’RE BOTH ALIVE!”

Oh, man, this is such a superb poem. It has been too long.

The closing line is what brings this whole thing together; it's such a wonderful observation with an emotional kicker that doesn't "tell" you that it's emotional; poetry works so well when it shows and reveals rather than tells, and this shows and reveals beautifully.
