My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

omgosh!!! There is a beautiful Native American tale about Devil's Tower. I did a little bit of volunteer story telling some time ago at local schools. That story was one I used to tell. Just to give you a hint, you see those long grooves down the sides. Well, they were caused by the claws of a great bear.

So exciting to see a volcanic plug up close and in colour! A level Geography was all monochrome in my schooldays and mainly oblique aerial photos.

Great composition. Really well done. You didn't see any alien spacecraft, did you?
Chipka
Volcano plugs are such interesting things, and this particular icon has to be my favorite of the lot, though I also have to admit to hearing, in my mind's ear, five very specific notes (with accompanying hand gestures) that have a lot to do with aliens that were actually puppets and little kids in alien costumes, though they were barely glimpsed and somewhat overshadowed by the light show at the end of a particular Steven Speilberg extravaganza All movie references aside, I like this shot a lot, and I'd love to spend LOTS of time at a place like this. This is brilliant!

the title started a tune in my head, somewhat like Chip's and the wonderful story that surrounded it. Great capture of this icon

I so envy you the free life you're leading now, able to visit these wonderful spots on a whim if you feel like it. This one is fascinating, and colourful, and well worth hanging around for as long as you feel like it!

I will assume here that you and Bill will not be building a model of this in the living room of your motor home.... :-P You have a great capture of it, Tara! You two are sooooo lucky! And I'm sooooo jealous! LOL!
