Description

It happens, every once-in-a-while; it happens during a lull in my writing, when creative juices haven’t dried up and stopped flowing, but when they’ve thickened, congealed, and require a bit of thinner to keep them from clotting. It isn’t Writer’s Block, but left unattended, it might grow into that. And so, as it happens—every once-in-a-while—I’ve switched gears (momentarily) from writing to… …fiddling around and revisiting ideas. I fiddled around for a bit, revisiting a few ideas: I found myself looking back and visiting old haunts. One such place was Christmas Street (It’s called something else in the native language of the country it belongs to, but translated into English…it’s…well…Christmas Street. It’s a tourist attraction.) In all honesty it wasn’t that street in particular I visited, nor was it the nameless city in the nameless country it occupies. I was more interested in the character, a guy named Kaspar. He’s a veterinarian’s assistant with what could be called a strange, mutant ability. He can learn anything about your life and your place of residence, simply by listening to you. He has the ability to travel to far away places simply by listening to strangers. This is not an unusual ability; everyone in his country possesses this ability, to a small degree, though other members of his country believe that their national domain exists at the endpoint of everything: the end of time. (It’s an odd, and emerging country, and it has appeared in my gallery three times.) It began in The Study of Pornography, and meandered into Aftermath in a Northern Town, and, found its way…a short time later, into The Study of Streets. It is the third story, the street story that occupies my attention. It is the character, Kaspar, who seems to have something to reveal. What exactly that revelation might be, I have no clue. And in a haphazard search for it, I found myself fiddling with artwork…fiddling with an image already posted in my gallery, a new image, downloaded directly from my camera, the face of a random person (derived from a still earlier download from my camera) and text snatched right out of Kaspar’s story: The Study of Streets. I can’t really say what any of it means, but hey…it led to the creation of an image, and I’m pretty happy with that. As to whether this hybrid character is Kaspar, or someone else, remains to be seen, but I do like the way it evokes (at least for me) something of the mood of the story that has inspired it. I’ve decided to place this in the PhotoShop Gallery, as I can’t really think of anywhere else that might be a reasonable fit. I suppose that it could fit within 2D as well. At any rate, it’s here, even though it’s a Gimp-produced image. As always, thank you for viewing, reading, and commenting, and I hope you’re all having a great week.

I love how you incorporate visual processes into your storylines, how they play off each other and become a hybrid form; I picture you juggling the senses, adding elements as your comfort level increases, until what you produce becomes not just a story but an experience...

You have a way with these warm, golden, brown tones, that I really like alot. And this image has in my eyes alot of mystery in it. Love the text you added to this. Excellent.

Wonderful. Such a calm and serene image but something about the red gives the feeling that there is something passionate just below the surface. Something hidden from the person that is seated. I like it! As with all your images it holds mystery.

Impressive work. Its as if he and his world are coming into existence before our eyes, being created out of the words on the page. Sort of a Pinocchio effect with you as Geppetto.
