Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."Â
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.
For those looking at my gallery, enjoy it and feel free to leave comments and sitemail! Good day to all!

A lovely gift to a sweet person and a good friend. Well deserving of a never ending birthday. Especially if it is intoxicated with such potent libations as you have outlined. I have to make this one brief as I must depart but the colours and light of this scene are wonderful.I love night shots.

Love them endless birthdays. It is mysterious. Appears to be droplets on a surface perhaps glass. Beautiful!

The other day someone posted an image that evoked a smell response. Good images can do that. This one, for me, evokes a touch sense. I think back to how many times on a train I laid my head against the cool glass and watched the water bead past me.

Wonderful! I love the effect of the water droplets on the glass. The image on the other side of the glass is a colorful mystery. I get a feeling of quite contemplation with this image. I can almost hear the rain hitting the windows...

I like the layeredness of this, how you can see that there's something behind the drops, but you can't see exactly what it is...unknowns are always much more fun than reality, at least I think so. Wonderful shot!!!

Cool one! :)

Thank you, Chip! I like this sidestep of yours very much! While I am a little leery of the Slivovice, the Becherovka sounds intriguing. I found a place in San Antonio, that not only sells it, but according to one reviewer has an "AWESOME DELI!" I think some investigating is in order. I shall have it for my extended birthday, though perhaps not shots. One of the few times I've had shots (lemons and salt were also involved) I ended up entangled in a chair. I do love this image! It is a wonderland in zoom! I liked it straight off, but when I clicked on it and it opened up in full beauty, my vocabulary got stuck on Wow! Wow, Wow, Wow! I know you didn't mean to make me so bereft of English, but that was the effect for a while. The light captured in the dew is gorgeous! The detail, the fascinating and mysterious shapes, and colors coming through! I agree totally with MrsRatbag. I find the not knowing just what the streaks and streaked shapes are, to be fascinating. There is activity seen by the light, and it is probably in motion, but here at this moment, it lives in shapes and colors. I'm not much of one for wearing precious jewels. There are so many other things I'd rather spend my money on. I have gazed at them sparkling in the lights of a display case and I can see their appeal. But when I can be mesmerized by the effects of light, water, and a extremely skilled photographer . . . my money is safe (from that temptation, anyway.) This is gorgeous! . My birthday was glorious indeed, and it seems to be lingering. Thank you!

Very cool abstract - I like that some of those drops look like they have motion trails behind them, creating a feeling of velocity...

Very beautiful indeed!

Digital impressionism, Monet and Turner would approve. Absolutely magical, a wonderful birthday gift. As for alcohol, fiery drinks may be challenging but the smooth ones are the most dangerous. I refer to my introduction to Metaxa, a Greek brandy. I was encouraged by a friend to try a shot. When I commented that there was no expected 'kick' he encouraged me to take another. After the forth one I felt the need to go to the restroom. I bent at the waist as I rose from my chair but instead of straightening up I continued to bend until my head hit the table. But then again, I am also very smooth.

Sensational result! I never would have guessed it for more than a single photograph if you hadn't said. I'm especially happy to get here after Lucinda saw this, because as soon as I saw the image I knew she'd love it, and this way I get to see exactly why and how much! :)

Really jewels, fantastic photo.

Nicely done – for some reason the image makes me imagine a microscope slide with the mystery under the grass still out of focus. I really like the abstract look!!!
