Description

It's 2:45 AM... Last call. Claire, Autumn, and Robin (see previous picture) have already gone home. The band is packing up. All that's left are the lonely, the besotted, and the chainsmokers (not mutually exclusive categories). The bartender wants to close up and air the place out. Moral arguments aside, this image was to compare Poser's native interpretation of atmospheric effects to LuxRender. See my last gallery image for the difference. ---- I've been wrestling with the CPU heat issue that rendering can bring, and I could use some advice. I bought a couple of case fans. To my astonishment, they actually made temperatures WORSE. I tried every configuration, from the most logical to the most illogical. All I can figure is that the increased air blowing through the case was physically preventing the CPU fan from spinning up to its full speed. I am seriously tempted to get a sealed liquid cooling system, if those are any good. I really don't want to fool around with building one piece by piece (with all the drips!). On the other hand, I discovered that if I keep renderings down to half-speed or less, the CPU never gets warmer than 60C. Not an ideal solution. What should I do? And, should I keep the fans or take them back? Any thoughts? Forgive me. I know as life goes this does not count as a "real problem" but I'd like to take SOME action on it.

If it fits in your case get a liquid cooled cpu cooler. I use Corsairs. I have to have them for my systems or they overheat in rendering. Also, with the fans you installed blow air in. In other words make sure you have them pulling cold air in. You should already have one exhaust fan. Another options is get a better fan and heatsink that will fit in your case for the cpu. First option is better. A third option is some people leave their side panel off all together.

Good advice, ronmolina! If I left the side panel off my case, though, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I accidentally kicked it...
