Description

I have stressed the danger and loneliness because they are very real and something a scholar must be willing to deal with. But, there are times when you find a traveling companion. You embrace these times and make the most of them. Sometimes, they last only a day and, sometimes, they last weeks. It is true that there is safety in numbers and it is always nice to have someone to talk with. There is an eternal beauty in a sunset. This is especially true when you have someone to share it with. And, memories of conversation over a blazing campfire can carry you through many lonely miles. A few days ago, I chanced upon another traveler. As our path was the same for a ways, we traveled together for a couple of days. We made camp in some old ruins that first night. We sat and talked as the sun slowly faded from sight. My traveling companion, Cara was her name, told me of a town to the North in which she had seen several books. My curiosity was roused. Several books in one town was unheard of. She could supply little more information. But, what she had said was enough to decide my path. We parted ways the following day, she going southwest and I going north. I may never see her again, but I will never forget her or her companionship. Another very eerie image. I am particularly struck at the lonliness this scene evokes - even though there are two people, there is absolutely nothing around them. Well done Paul!! Story is engrossing. :)

I'm into the story, too....give us more....The ruin and the lonely plain add to the feeling of lonliness and isolation here. Great job on this.

I have to agree, I'm intrigued. Looking forward to more of this story!
