Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Mussels are rather tasty for humans too...I had them on pizza once and they had a nice, smoky flavor. Well...they were smoked themselves. This makes me think of a lost slipper and I love the sand partly inside of it; the details of the sand grains is wonderful and I really like the muted colors as well; it's really a colorful shot, but you have to really spend more than a moment with it in order to see the colors, and they emerge as a really pleasant surprise. Well done!

I really love this photo. the layout and design...the way the shell is partly covered with the pebbly sand yet showing the wonderful mother of pearl colors. Thank you for sharing

Terrific definition and detail in this top notch composition, Marilyn. A seal and/or sealion had a field day on this. Reminds me of a scrap off of a palm tree.

What a find! This was well seen, and well shot. A delightful image. I can smell the sea, just looking at it!

it's just like you to take an already beautiful sight---this mussel on the beach---and give it to us in a wholly different view. It's half buried in the sand and pebbles! Its curve swirls around the pebbles and eats them up; and the right-end of the shell---the upper half---has an almost luminous amber tone, like it has light in it. (Very sweet touch.) And the light on the left side of the shell is beautiful, with all that blue. A simple image, but beautifully seen, with the shell and the beach in perfect communion. And the shell disappears in the sands beautifully too. This is a real Marilyn shot, all the way. Another beauty, Marilyn.
