Description

For reasons I cannot explain, I’m nearly on time with recognizing various Renderosity birthdays, and for equally unexplainable reasons, birthdays and blossoms seem connected in this particular juncture of life. I’m going with it. I noticed the pollen clumps within this particular blossom, after learning that Sandra (Sandra46) is celebrating her birthday. This is a post in honor of that occasion. I find it intriguing that I noticed the pollen in the decorative blossom before I noticed the blossom itself. I discovered the pollen in my search for insects. There were none. Well, there had to be something or someone nearby, but as I am not in the habit of poking through someone else’s flowers, I didn’t search very hard. It doesn’t matter: I scored a photo that I liked, and I’m posting it here—as a dedication to a fellow photographer/digital artist whose work I like quite a lot. Though I’m not entirely certain, I think this is the intimate portion of a petunia; I’m more familiar with fauna than flora, and so my identification of this particular plant remains in question. As plant, such an organism isn’t actually in the habit of telling anyone anything about itself; the petunia (?) in question is no exception. It doesn’t speak English, or any other human language, for that matter, but—like all mysteries and near-mysteries—it possesses eye-appeal and a level of brilliance I find irresistible. It is, I hope, a sufficient birthday dedication. Happy Birthday, Sandra! As always, thank you for viewing, reading, and commenting, and I hope you’re all having a great week.

This is a wonderful image with a very different POV. It looks as if I could slide down the petals into the dark mass. The feeling is one of an emerald accompanied by feta cheese. Happy birthday, Sandra.

I'm impressed that you identified this correctly! You see? One by one you'll remember these beauties. Of course there are far more than you can ever memorize, but fortunately people tend to plant the same sorts of things in planters in the city. :)
