Description

Two out of three moons: not a bad marker for the day. Turbulent equivocation writes itself across the sky in clouds that promise nothing, despite the potential for rain held in their bellies. To the west, where the restive question lingers in clotted, darkening gray, equivocation (written across the sky) hardens into curdled promise. The winds have not changed. Much. The air is still sodden with humidity, and to the east, where the clouds are thinner (and two moons loom over the lake) the certainty of a storm does not exist. It is likely that the curdled, western clouds will rip into diaphanous shreds and fade into memories of themselves by nightfall. It is likely that the skies will pour rain (and hail) in gusty torrents. It is likely that a drought may arrive (as the weathermen predict) after dinner and stay until winter. But for now, with two out of three moons looming in the eastern sky, atmospheric prevarication is all that marks this moment… * I’d posted a different version of this image earlier in my gallery; the pedestrian in this shot has appeared (in various incarnations) in multiple posts—as a citizen of Gwot, if I remember correctly, and as…someone else. An Agaran, maybe. Or just some random guy. And now, he appears again. Here. In yet another variation of his native photograph. I’m not sure, but I think he might appear again. I don’t know when, and I don’t know where. But I get the distinct impression that he isn’t done with walking from one image to another. He may even return to yet another version of Chicago Avenue…with something else in the sky, but until then, he’s walking (westward) while the sky fails to decide whether or not it’s going to rain. * As always, thank you for viewing, reading, and commenting, and I hope you’re all having a great week.

A real Chip-shot...I'd have picked it out of a lineup straight off. The story start is intriguing...

A very beautiful shot, but the colors are unusual for your shots, Chip. So it was a little surprise :-)

Yup ... what Denise said. I'd know this for your work anywhere! If I saw it on the front cover of a book one day, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised.

Moons of this size might cause severe disturbances not only in tides... but they look so pretty!

A fine creative image. Perhaps a photographic version of the sci-fi genre in which things are exactly as they are in our daily existence, with one exception? What would the consequences of having multiple moons have on our lives? More werewolf activity maybe?

Just a normal day on Gwot although the tides must be really high. A surfer's paradise. The photo manipulation and post work are superb.
