Sandy, first of all thank you so much for this VERY wonderful birthday dedi. Being an animal lover myself makes this one all the more special to me. Three cheers to you for adopting this wonderful gal from the pitbull rescue, that was so kind of you. I myself have taken in two more dogs in the last few months from off the street.

I know many people who rescue animals, and it's a totally love-based act. Esp because rescues can involve undying devotion to get them past the ravages of their abandoned pasts, and make them know that at last they're truly loved. I know the journey, and I have no doubt that you're one of those who master that journey. When this went up, I wanted to comment then and there; so I'm very happy to comment now. Yes, Dave is one of the delights of this place, he is here everyday even when he doesn't post for months; and he's always giving love to everyone without fail, always spreading embrace and hugs, and he's one of the true backbones of RR and deserves all the love and praise we can give him. Posting a rescue (and a beautiful poetic image of one) is perfect for Dave. Apparently he rescues animals too (from his comment---no surprise, but I didn't know it till now); so it's doubly fitting. Beautiful how the dog emerges out of the light around him, too...A totally fitting dedi for our beloved Dave. Again, I wish you the very best, Sandy, and hope you're doing ok. I've just now glanced at your site---never saw it before---and will return later to walk through it: It looks beautiful. I wish you all the inspiration in the world.

Thank you for your wonderful comments. Just an FYI, this lovely lady had 3 bullet wounds when we got her. she also had other issues which we have overcome. Anyway, even a dog that has been badly abused and might not seem adoptable, can overcome that past with the right care, discipline and love. We also discovered things about dog food that we didn't know.. the poisons that are in many big name dog foods can actually affect a dog's temperament as well as shorten their lives Changing to a locally made and chemical free brand made a huge difference in her. I will never feed another animal any of the large company brands again. what goes into them is shocking.

What a beautiful and perfect birthday tribute to Dave! He too has some rescued dog. Yes, food is an important factor in our dogs' health, both physical and emotional. It's true for humans, why wouldnt it be true for every other species? Sadly even veterinarians and doctors are not aware of the importance of appropriate and healthy nutrition. I'm glad you've discovered that those big major companies produce toxic garbage and call it nutritious healthy food.
