Description

Back in March of 1982, I was going to college in Merced, California with my two former brother-in-laws. We lived in Cathys Valley way out on California Route 140. One night as we traveled home we had just crossed North Arbodela Rd when my brother-in-law, Bill said, "HuH? Will you look at that?" I thought someone was coming up on our left so I (in the back seat) turned that way. He said, "No, to the right." My other brother-in-law and I turned and saw, "this" thing. About 250 feet off the right passing us very slowly. It was about 50 feet off the ground and about 100-150 feet long. Just glowing edges and you could see through it. As we, and it, closed in on Planata, it pitched it's nose vertical and shot straight up. Disappeared in seconds. Bill and I both being former military knew couldn't report it (as both of us still had particular clearances). None of us were alcohol or drug partakers. But to this day, it still haunts me every so often. We were doing 50 mph on CR140, and it closed on us about 5-10 mph faster than we were going. Cruised slowly by us and got to Planada a few minutes before when it shot up through the sky. Hadn't seen anything like it before, or since. Thought I'd share (30 years later). What got me was the fact you could see right through it. From the side it was a long right triangle and from the rear an equilateral triangle of glowing, long tubes. We were in a 1966 Dodge Coronet two door, not nearly as cool as this thing. However..., though a heavy skeptic concerning extraterrestrial affairs, after that, I became a believer. One who agrees with Carl Sagan, "Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known."
