Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

What a marvellous sky this is. You did a super job capturing this.

Air and land are inextricably connected! You can feel the effects if you fly in a small plane. Wherever there's a hill, the plane goes up, then bumps down, just in the shape of the land below it. The weather front and the coast are following the rules, and it's a lovely scene!

Amazing capture Andrea. God bless.

The V.P. makes the rules that the rail shouldn't obey but it just joins in with everything else. Great shot!

...the end of the first dark headland on the horizon past the pier is the Needles? Sorry, A, but you left me in Bournemouth with that one. Otherwise, stellar POV, contrast lighting and textural effects in this magnificent shot. I hope you're feeling better.

I live the separation of blue sky and heavy clouds and I think that Tizzy produced a great photo. Hope you are feeling better!!!!

Superb composition. The confluence of the two fronts seems to be at that building on the left. What is it?

Lovely shot here Andrea. I am sure Dee will remember the day we went to Boscombe, and had the ridiculous idea to walk the coast to the needles, needless to say we gave up half way and got the road train back, then came home to your place Hehe!

Do two fronts make a back? Just me being silly...I love the beach scenes from here, you're so lucky to live in such a beautiful spot!

I chose this one because of my many mornings on our lake. But we don't have the bluffs and hills, nor the land jutting in the background...A sweeping capture with a bluish-gray tint, angles meeting at the left, and the big sun glaring into to the top, leaving its silvery tone all over the water, cars, and the tops of the plants (in foreground). Something peaceful about it, beyond its largesse. A soothing sweep, and reminding us of the majesty of your waterfront with all its mystery and seclusion intact.
