Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I think you are wise 'give an inch' and so forth. Excellent portrait.

Couldn't agree more with you and Jeff. I have no sympathy for junkies or piss heads. But you got a nice shot here, His face seems to appear to have gone south down the right side, a typical reaction to the booze and drug/chemical mix. Shame!
jendellas
I wouldn't let them in either, lovely portrait!!

Seems like a right character, clearly lived life by his rules and maybe they have not been the best choices. I reckon we all know somebody like this in our towns or villages. I'm sure there is a deeper background story there somewhere.

Wonderful capture! While I agree with your thoughts and beliefs, it is still a sad situation for him and his sister

Totally with you Andrea. Each of us must make choices and they made a wrong and disastrous choice to live of drugs and stealing. The only place where one can end up doing so is in Jail.God bless. Superb capture Andrea.God bless.

Nice shot!

I agree with Adobe_One_Kenobi :)

A great portrait! Sometimes the "likeable rogue" trait is singularly responsible for their survival! Wise control and a very realistic assessment.

Good portrait, or should I say "mug shot"? He looks like he would likely be good pub company.

I say they are such poor people, but why help them to destroy themselves?

That poor old nose has had a few punches to it that's for sure.

Good lawd!!!!! You do run with a most eclectic pack of characters, Andrea. And this one is apparently sordid to a large extent. I can just imagine the many "blimey, bloke and blighter" comments passing through his ne'er-do-well lips. Kind of reminds me of something out of Oliver Twist. That said, an outstanding portrait of the infamous Johnny Ayres, with the crooked nose and nefarious grin.

It is a fantastic portrait Andrea and I favor the color version. The booze does take its toll - I've seen it many times with my older military veteran friends.

You are very correct and he very much looks the part. People like this can shatter the tranquility of normal lives, and do so regularly. I relly prefer the mono version, just spectacular!

No explanation or apology necessary. As soon as I saw this excellent image I thought, "Here is someone who has lived a hard life." If he had applied himself he might have had a future in the movies playing himself. He certainly looks the part.

Excellent pic.

Nice portrait.

After my daughter did a spell trying to teach 'Traveller' children that didnt want to know I agree with you.
