Description
Captured 5/11/12, mid afternoon, at the Bolsa Chica Conservancy Wetlands, in beautiful Huntington Beach, California.
Thought I would log in today with this beauty. I have several other pix of the same milieu lurking in my capacious files, begging to be displayed.
Nothing like dead logs lying about or sticking up amidst green algae/scum for a striking scene, with nary an insect to be seen, because there are none there.
Immeasureably better detail viewed full size.
Cheerio, and have a nice day.

Nice work on this very dramatic post, Harry.

It is quite eerie; if it was in B&W I'd really think you'd stumbled onto the scene of a nuclear meltdown! What an excellent and moody capture, Harry!

Isn't it fascinating what can make a gorgeous shot. And this is a gorgeous shot! Beautiful composition, colors, and light. The lines of the trees and fluorescent highlights of green are very dramatic. One of the tree stumps reminds me of a short figure, with hands behind his back, surveying the scene. Excellent capture!

the clarity in this shot is stunning. It's crystalline. And that makes its eerie-ness and otherworldliness stand out with absolute crispness. I like the comments. Jocko has the idea, creepy place but the capture is wonderful. Yes. And Lucinda really has it---she gets the beauty in decay and such, because of how you present it. The angled pov makes us sweep into the distance, and it's all desolation there. And since you got the curvature of the earth, it makes it feel like the end of the earth is just beyond the water. Fine detail on the trunks too, and on the algae (if that's algae). And a fine sheen on the water. Glass sheen on murky waters---good contrast. Another fine entry in this series---very clear; and for all its eerie-ness, very bold and beautiful. (I went back to the cigarette upload, btw: Man! Lol! People were really creeped out by those butts! You know, having come to photography from painting, maybe it makes it easier for me to see it as art. It really is art---I mean, cig butts aren't pretty, I agree, but you made it into art, a still life; and I think maybe one other person felt it. Denise maybe. She painted too, in the past. I'm so surprised that everyone else was so grossed out---not by your work, as they all appreciated that, but by the subject material. You have resolve, to see art in that stuff! Ok, enough on that, but I had to say it. It was great to see what everyone said...)
