Description

Dear friends, one again a short look into the best part of Saxony, the so called "Saxonian Switzerland". When I write this, some very sad things happened: They had a great floood of the Elbe river in 2002 here, they called it a "centuries flood". Dresden was damaged at this times, the Dresden Zwinger and the Semper Opera fas filled with dirty river waters....... It lasted some years to do all repairs, and our country had to pay more than 8 Billion Euro along the Elbe River - till down to Hamburg....... And now it happend again - 11 years later! The same dirt, the same giantic destruction, the old city core of Meissen and Pirna destroyed again - and all the small villages here at both side of the Elbe were wasted one more time! I am very, very sad - are the inhabitants here able to start new again? And must they do so every 10 years from now? We all will stand that, and we will be back as tourists, I`m sure. And we will give them a sign that we will spend our time and money in their beautiful landscape. This is a pic from better times - it was taken in 2008 when we explored the Saxonian Switzerland at first time. Hope you enjoy! I will be back in the late evening! billcody
