Description

Since I've been doing a series of models in Hexagon and Daz Studio geared to an Alternate History of WW2, I thought it would be good to share a few pics of the real-world prototypes that inspired my fictional works. All of the aircraft in this image were real-world prototype aircraft that were developed in the late 30's early 40's, during WW2, and it's quite possible that (had the war lasted longer) these may have one day reached production... I've marked the aircraft names into the image for reference. All these aircraft were in flight testing prior to wars end, how-ever most were cancelled during initial tests or never reached production before the war ended. Countries represented here are; Italy Germany USA Great Britain Sweden Japan Russia

Did you know that in DC Comics a modified (transport) version of the Ascender was used as the mode of travel by the All Star Squadron a World War 2 force made up of virtually all of america's costumed heroes.

There was no lack of creativity! The Germans even tried a manned version of the V1. And take a look for the Westland Wyvern sometime.

Exceedingly cool collage! Have you considered possibly Airboy's "Birdie" as one of the planes for your alternate history?

Very good mate! Great collection.. The Saab actually went into service.. The rest I think not! Certainly not in the U.K. Rob

The Shinden and Pfiel almost made it into service... they'd both been accepted for production but the war ended before production runs could begin... the rest flew but only in pre-production test flights as concept prototypes... I think the YAK also made it into production... but I could be wrong...
