Description

Fighters are without question the glamour girls of the aircraft scene...even the butt ugly ones and those that were slow to gain pilot admiration. The F-105 Thunderchief was one of those. However, the support aircraft in the same vein as the ground support crews are impressive to say the least, even if they don't get much of the limelight. The KC-135 Stratotanker fits neatly into that niche. Introduced in the Air Force in 1957, the amazing aerial gas station is still in use. With all of its upgrades and improvements the teat of the Air Force is expected to be flying till 2040! With assorted add on packages, the Stratotanker can refuel Navy, Air Force, US Marine, and most NATO tactical aircraft without removing its boom. . a real asset to quick turnaround times. My external render engine has decided on a sabatical, so I'm using Vue's internal render engine...I'm not sure I like it any better, but necessity is the mother... I've also been trying out some texturing, model mods, and specular maps...interesting stuff. F-105D Thunderchief: Superb model by AliceFromLake here on Rendo...you have to use this model to appreciate the quality...one of the best! Some texture tweaking. KC-135A Stratotanker: I'm guessing by Altus on sketchup warehouse, but don't quote me. Reworked and complete retexed to taste. Pilot gears: BillyT flight crew here at rendo. I still marvel at how natural your planes look in the air... you have the touch Bill...most plane compositions look like their just pasted in the sky..but not yours. The historical information is always a plus too! 5
