Description

Flashback of Madness ~ Maude This is another image done (like Shub-Niggurath) for some friends of mine for their website "In the Chime Hours" and for Part II of "Beyond the Blood and Wood Smoke". It takes place in a lunatic asylum and begins with the young lady here (Maude) as the nurse who feels compelled to record the 'ravings' of one of her patients in the times he is coherent. He is a man named Archie who is clearly mad, as he speaks of strange things that cannot possibly be. After listening to Archie's story one evening, she is drawn into that same madness...as is of course, only normal in a Lovecraftian fiction. I swear my friend Sarah is channeling Howard P. Lovecraft when she writes. She's quite good with this sort of thing. If you like H.P. Lovecraft type stories, I'm sure you'll like this one. There is also artwork by two other friends here, besides mine. The first image is an image made with a statue of Shub-Niggurath by my good friend Cobweb, who does statues of 'small gods' and replica pieces of Neolithic carvings, as well as 2D art. He owns Eolith Designs. Three of his pieces are featured in the British Museum's shop: 'Bison', 'Mas D'Azil Horse Head' and 'Swimming Reindeer Sculpture'. The other artwork is by my friend Matt and his friend Ian (Miles Cross Studio). Matt likes to play with photos and drawings in PShop and do strange things to them...kind of like FaeMike :) I have some very talented friends and sometimes I like to share their works with my talented friends here! So, if you have a little time and the inclination, check out In The Chime Hours Thanks for dropping by my gallery dear friends! May you have a wonderful week ahead. Take care, Ray

Wonderful work, Ray - it really does communicate Maude's journey into madness. Superb as always! I'm at work (speaking of journeys into madness..), actually getting a rare coffee break.... I'll have to check out those links after I wake up later this afternoon..

Creepy image and fitting for a Lovecraftian story. The muted tones and graininess add to the horror effect. The web is a good metaphor for the things we get entangled in and often trapped. Very cool and slick website. I bookmarked it to check it out later. I saw your recent post of Shub Niggurath there and that sculpture is really interesting.
