Description

Back from our short vacation up in the New Hampshire White Mountains. First, this mountain range is covered with lush green trees but those that first saw these mountains, were on a ship, in the winter and the mountains were covered with snow. While hiking in the Franconia Notch State Park, we came across this single mushroom. Due to the color and texture, we thought that it should be nicknamed the scrambled egg mushroom. My research came up with the Poisonous Yellow-Patch Mushroom (Amanita Flavoconia) but would be more than willing to accept another suggestion. It was about 5 inches (12cm) tall and the cap was possibly half of that. Back to commenting on Sunday. Zoom does help a bit! Thank you for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favorites and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

Very cool capture - according to the Audubon Society book of mushrooms, it is indeed the Yellow patches - it has not been established whether it is edible or not Glad you had a great trip

My first thought was chopped up with scrambled eggs, but I guess if it was going to kill you it wouldn't be such a great idea! Nice shots Dana!

Looks like an omelet, but not one I'd risk eating. My family used to vacation at Franconia Notch when I was a kid - I'd like to get back there some time...

scrambled egg mushroom! I like that!! I wish I knew more about wild mushrooms. I know there are a lot of edible ones out there, but also deadly ones. In fact, just yesterday I happened to read a wise Croation proverb: Every mushroom is edible...some only once.

So pleased you had a good time in the mountains Dana. I can see why this mushroom would be called the scrambled egg mushroom it really does look like it on the top. Not to be eaten though obviously, hugs Jane xx
