I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Amazing capture Carin. God bless.

Fantastic capture, these warthogs can be quite a handful, especially if they have young around, they can really shift and do some serious damage to a human, head like a bulldozer. You were in the best place to be when capturing images of these guys, or maybe a jeep.

years ago a tenant that was living in a house that I took care of had a boars head delivered that her 10 year old son and killed on a hunt with his father. she called me in to see it. I asked her to loan it to me for a minute. I had a man working for me and he had one foot on an ac unit and the other on a step ladder painting a window. I tapped on the glass and held up the head to the glass. he was so frightened that he almost fell off! there are many in Texas, but luckily they stay away from cities for the most part. they do kill many dogs. outstanding photo and dedication

Bless him, he isn't the handsomest of fellas. Great shot!! xx

My but he/she looks like a big one. I do like these. They fall into a category of "so ugly they are cute". And they are completely fearless. I don't know if I've told this story before but once, watching a nature program, I saw a segment where a leopard was stalking a group of piglets. While mom herded them towards their burrow dad chased away the leopard, And the leopard ran away in panic!

Well I find him rather attractive in a similar way to those elderly Army officers that used to be around.

I've only taken one photo of a wart hog and he was deep in mud, as are most photos, so I love this one! Andrea is right, they are very similar to old army officers!

Well now, lookee heah, a great shot of one of the ugliest creatures on God's green earth. I ran into these warthogs when lost in the bayous of Louisiana while on Army maneuvers. Terrific clarity and detail in this pic, Carin.
MrsRatbag
I rather like their perky curved tusks; nothing else in nature looks like these creatures! Wonderful capture, Carin!

They're certainly unique! :) I'm not sure about Andrea's "old army officer" thing. I know one who is considerably cuter that this little guy! LOL!
